China Climate
This page is China Climate for China Information. Given the vastness of China, its seasons and climates vary depending on when and where you visit China. In general, we like to compare China to the United States and much of Europe. It’s hot, it’s cold, it’s rainy, it’s dry, depending on where and when you visit the country.
China experiences extreme cold and heat. Although there is no one ideal time to visit China, Spring and Fall, especially the months of April and October, are usually good times to visit. If you plan to primarily visit the subtropical south, the winter months of November to February are excellent times to visit this area. However, a cold spell in the South can be very chilling since no heating is found in buildings south of the Yangtze River. If you’re primarily interested in visiting the Beijing and the north, do so in late spring or early fall. If you plan to visit the Yangtze River area, be forewarned that this area has long hot summers beginning as early as April and ending in October. Three cities in this area-Chongqing, Wuhan, and Nanjing-have long been known as China’s “Three Furnaces”! Visit this area in July or August and you will most likely have a very uncomfortable stay.
