Beijing is circled by four concentric ring roads without stop lights. Second Ring Road, which the No. 2 metro line follows, has several names: Andingmengdong St., Chaoyangmennan, Fuchengmennan St., XizhimennanSt., and Deshengmenxi St. Third Ring Road is Sanhuan Zhong, Dong, Bei, Xi .or Nan, depending on the locations central, east, north, west or south. There is talk of this road becoming Olympic Boulevard. Fourth Ring Road is the next circular road outside of it and is Sichuan as in Beisihuandong Lu (North Fourth Ring East Road). A fifth ring road is being constructed and should be finished before 2007.
Beijing now consists of ten districts and nine counties. Chaoyang Districts the Central Business District. Rural villages raise the famous force-fed Beijing ducks. Over 2000 factories, mainly in the suburbs, produce iron and steel, mine coal, make machines, basic chemicals and petroleum, electronics, and textiles.
The people of Beijing speak Mandarin (putong hua), the official national language, but they twirl their tongues more and go heavy on the rs.They are predominantly Han, but you will see flat, wide Mongolian and Manchu faces too. Beijing people tend to be reserved compared to other Chinese. Don‘t be put off by this, for they are warm and friendly once they get to know you.You will have a nice trip in your Beijing Travel.
